With the Reyrolle 5 series of relays, Siemens launched a new generation of protection devices enabling substation digitalization and enhanced cyber security. Following the success of the earlier CD-ROM based series of Virtual Relays, Siemens asked us to develop a new series of Virtual Relays as a web-app which would work equally well on mobile devices, laptop or desktop. Requiring a complete rewrite of the software application from the ground up, the VR has been well received and has enabled customers worldwide to ‘try out’ the product.
